Overworld Skills Priority Tier List
Eleven skills, limited hours—here is the efficient order.
There is no global level in Overworld. Your power is the sum of eleven skills raised by doing the associated actions. This priority list keeps Early Access accounts from scattering XP.
S-priority skills
Combat / Archery focus — Unlocks safer grinding and boss entry. Follow Level Archery Fast if you main Ranged, or general combat tips in Combat Builds.
Mining — Feeds the entire crafting pipeline. Copper, tin, coal, then iron routes live in Mining and Smithing.
A-priority skills
Smithing / crafting track — Convert bars into weapons and armor that raise clear speed.
Lumbering / gathering support — Fuels repairs, crafts, and market sales; see skill loops in Skills System.
Thieving-related play — Not always labeled the same in UI, but lockpicking and fencing via Shady Sam bankrolls everything (Make Money Fast).
B-priority skills
Fishing and niche production — Fine for variety and AFK-friendly sessions once bills are paid.
Magic — Level alongside spellbook use when you can afford mana.
C-priority early
Anything that does not unlock tools, travel, or survivability can wait. Curiosity is fine in short bursts—just finish your Skill Checklist targets first.
Suggested first-week order
- Questing for permanent stat bumps (Getting Started)
- Mining to first armor craft
- Ranged combat to Goblin Camp comfort
- Money skill via stealing/fencing
- Mount purchase for map size (Mounts and Travel)
- Diversify into lumber, fishing, and mage experiments
Party note
Bossing skills matter more when friends share loot. Coordinate roles in Party and PvP so two miners and zero fighters is not your raid comp.
Sibling pages
Continue to Early Gear or back to the Tier List Hub. Deep system explainers sit in Skills System.
Prioritize unlocks that shorten every future session—that is the real S-tier thinking.
Soft caps versus hard gates
Some levels feel cosmetic until a recipe suddenly demands them. When a craft fails, read the requirement, tick it on Skill Checklist, and run a focused block the same day. Delayed gates create the myth that “crafting is broken.”
Multiplayer skill diversity
In a friend group, specialize lightly: one player pushes Mining harder, another pushes combat, then trade crafts. Overworld’s party loot shines when not everyone mirrors the same three skills.
Seasonal focus
During free weekends, prioritize transferable skills and crafts. During stable paid stretches, experiment with niche magic or fishing for fun without guilt.
Field notes from Early Access
Build a “skill story” for your character: the miner-ranger, the thief-mage, the lumber-melee. Stories create constraints that fight FOMO. When a new skill looks shiny, ask whether it serves the story this month. If not, park it. Use Skill Checklist rows as chapters, not chores. On weeks with less time, train only the story’s primary skill plus whatever unlocks the next craft. Constraints are how deep accounts are made.
Closing checklist for tier-list/skills-priority
Before you log off, write one sentence about what this page changed in your plan, one resource you will buy or craft next, and one friend you might invite. Then open a complementary link from the Related guides section and schedule a twenty-minute follow-up. That tiny paper trail keeps Overworld progress visible across busy weeks and patchy Early Access calendars.
